I purchased a book from johnscb via the Amazon®.com Marketplace and now I want to return it. What do I do?
If you purchased the book via the Amazon.com® Marketplace, visit the help section and review Arranging Amazon Marketplace Returns > Refunds section in the help guidelines. Then send Johnscb an e-mail to the address on the enclosed packing slip or contact Johnscb through via the Amazon.com® Marketplace mail system. Refunds are processed once the merchandise is received and are credited or issued via the Amazon.com® Marketplace payment system. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.

I purchased a book from johnscb via the Amazon.com® Marketplace and I realized that my address is incorrect or I now need the book shipped to a different address than the one provided at the time I purchased the book. What do I do?
The Amazon.com® Marketplace seller guidelines are very clear. Johnscb must ship to the address provided by Amazon.com®. This is for security reasons. If this address is either incorrect or you now need the item shipped to a different address, contact Johnscb through via the Amazon.com® Marketplace mail system as soon as possible. Johnscb will issue a refund for the item and re-list the book (re-listed books are subject to prior sale since items cannot be reserved for a specific buyer.) Then you can update your mailing information and repurchase the book. If Johnscb has already shipped the book, then a refund will be issued once the book has been returned to Johnscb.

FAQs Regarding Payment

Will I receive an invoice upon winning an auction or purchasing a store listing?
johnscb uses eBay®'s checkout system. Upon auction/store item completion, Johnscb will issue an invoice via eBay® checkout system with total along with shipping options to the buyer. johnscb sends invoices as a courtesy. Store listings are Buy It Now® and you will be prompted for immediate payment. If you need to contact johnscb regarding payment, please email johnscb via the eBay® mail system.

How do I pay?
You can always login directly to eBay® and pay for an item in the My eBay® section. This is the best way to pay since it helps eliminate the chances of a spoofed e-mail or invoice. If there is any doubt about an e-mail, please login to the eBay® website directly rather than clicking upon links within the e-mail.

Why does johnscb require a confirmed shipping address when using Paypal®?
I would rather have the item shipped to a different address. johnscb only ships to confirmed addresses since this address is tied to the form of payment. Johnscb only accepts confirmed addresses with Paypal®. Please do not e-mail asking johnscb to make an exception. This is to help protect buyers against fraud.

Why does johnscb require Paypal® with a confirmed address as the only form of electronic payment for your eBay® auctions and listings?
Using Paypal® allows you to purchase items without sharing your financial information with a seller. Johnscb has this policy to help protect buyers against fraud. This policy allows johnscb to accept payment without seeing your financial information and johnscb prefers it that way. Please do not e-mail asking for another form of electronic payment or for johnscb to process payments directly. The answer will be no. NOTE: eBay® NO LONGER ALLOWS MONEY ORDERS IN MOST CASES AND I NO LONGER ACCEPT MONEY ORDERS FOR THIS REASON..

Regarding Second Chance Offers.
I bid on an eBay® item and I received a "Second Chance Offer®". What do I do? Johnscb does not make “Second Chance Offers®”. If you receive a "Second Chance Offer®" from johnscb, it is not from johnscb. If an auction item does not sell or the winning bidder does not pay, the item will be re-listed in a new auction or store listing. No "Second Chance Offer®" is issued.

Regarding non-paying bidders/buyers.
johnscb does report non-paying buyers to eBay®. Johnscb will make three attempts to contact a buyer before this occurs.

General shipping information:

The buyer pays for shipping charges. johnscb normally ships via US Post Office. Please see description for Media Mail. First Class, or Priority Mail costs. johnscb tries to use flat rate boxes and envelopes whenever possible to keep shipping costs low.

  • All items ship with a delivery confirmation.
  • Insurance is optional and available upon request. (On artwork, insurance is required.)
  • With Paypal®, johnscb only ships to confirmed addresses.
  • Washington State residents must pay sales tax on total amount including shipping and must e-mail prior to payment since a zip code is required to calculate sales tax.

Combined shipping:
johnscb will offer combined shipping when possible. However, items must be purchase at the same time. Please e-mail for combined shipping option and costs. johnscb will need your zip code to estimate shipping costs.

I purchased a book or item from johnscb via eBay® and now I want to return it. What do I do?

Some auction items and store listings are “AS IS” and are therefore not returnable.

Items can be returned within seven days of receiving if item is returned in original sellable condition. Refunds are processed once the merchandise is received less shipping and handling and insurance unless johnscb determines the return is due to seller error. Return shipping and handling and insurance is the responsibility of the buyer.

Send an e-mail through eBay®’s mail system with a description of the issue or reason. Please include the Auction ID/Store Item number and a description of the item for RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number and return instructions. 

The seven-day return period starts from the time and date of delivery indicated by the delivery confirmation tracking number.

Refunds are processed once the merchandise is received and are credited/issued via the original payment method.

Artwork returns:

Artwork can be returned within seven days of receiving the work provided that the work is returned in original sellable condition. Refunds are processed once the merchandise is received less shipping and handling and insurance unless johnscb determines the return is due to seller error. Return shipping and handling and insurance is the responsibility of the buyer. Please send an email thru the purchase venue with a description of the issue or reason along with order number for RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number and return instructions.

Book condition description information.

These are general book condition guidelines. However, they are subjective and open to interpretation and are not absolute. johnscb's opinion and yours may be different. Because of this, it is best to rely on the description in the store or auction listing rather than “the rating” in regards to book’s condition. johnscb tries to be a bit conservative when grading books.

Things that will always be included in condition descriptions if applicable:

  • Ex-Library materials.
  • Book Club editions.
  • Remainder Marks.
  • Bookplates and embossed seals.
  • Previous owner’s name.
  • Missing dust jackets.
  • Dust jackets with inside flaps clipped.
  • Page tanning.
  • Book spine splits/binding flaws.

Regarding Ex-Library books and materials:

The Ex-Library materials for sale are "clearly marked library discards" purchased directly from library sponsored the Friends of the Library books sales.

Ex-Library items are listed with an acceptable rating even when condition might be considered better due to library markings. If you would like a more detailed description of an Ex-Library or any other item's condition, please e-mail.

Grading scale:

New: A brand new, unread copy as published.

Like New: Appears unread. Hard covers have dust jackets. Pages are clean with no notes, underlines or highlights. There are no page creases or dogeared pages.

Very Good: A read copy in excellent condition. Pages are clean with no notes, underlines or highlights. Spine is good condition with no creases. Hard covers have dust jackets. No page creases or dogeared pages.

Good: A read copy whose pages might have minimal notes, underlines, or highlighting. Might have former owner’s name or “From the library of “ books plates or embossed seals but this does not include Ex-Library material with labels and stamps. The book may have spine creases and wear to spine, cover rubbing and scuffing, and edge and corner wear. Hard covers will have dust jackets. No missing or loose pages.

Average: Showing more wear than good rating might merit but not enough to be acceptable condition. Falls in a grey area right on edge between good and acceptable. Might be considered lower end of good rating.

Acceptable: No missing or loose pages or missing covers. Pages may have heavy, notes, underlines or highlighting but text is still readable. On hardbacks, the dust jackets may be missing. Heavy cover rubbing and scuffing and edge and corner wear. Covers may have multiple creases. May have minor stains or soiling. Heavy wear to spine. May be Ex-Library material with labels and stamps.

Reader copy (poor): All pages are present but has seen heavy use. The copy is readable but it is condition is not pretty. (Normally johnscb only sell books with this rating that are unusual or unique in some way or are a hard to find title. Otherwise, johnscb just recycles them.)

Due to variations in monitor displays, colors, brightness and contrast, Internet images may vary from actual artwork.

Artwork shipping information:
Artwork ships via US Mail with delivery conformation and insurance. For larger pieces, UPS or FedX Ground may be used. Shipping is normally within two to three business days after payment has been received. Interested international purchasers, please e-mail before buying or bidding since some countries have restrictions and listed shipping prices reflect United States shipping costs.

Regarding artwork copyrights:
The artist retains all copyrights. You are purchasing the artwork only and the artwork's image may not be used without the express written permission of the artist. Reproduction and commercial use are prohibited. Artist retains reproduction rights although the buyer is purchasing an ORIGINAL work of art. No copyrights are being transferred.
